you're gonna love having chickens! (and i love that you added your chix to your mix pics!)

    Now that looks like fun!!!

They are so cute! (Are they loud? Do the kids play with them? What do you DO with them?)

  • Cheri

ummmm, ok? You wanted your very own BIRDS???

  • Kelly Miller

@CK - Yes, they are loud. The guineas are loudest, but the chicks make steady noise too. I don't know if was the heat lamp or what, but they didn't roost at all last night.

The kids hold them and watch them. We took the guineas outside yesterday to run around and see if they'd eat. They got away from us and we were running around squawking ourselves to get them back. They are going to be trouble! The chicks are very docile and just like to eat.

@Cheri - I know! I remembered that on the way to pick them up, but the Mountain Man said that he built a coop so we were going to have chickens. The time for questions or hesitations had passed. I'm hoping it's not so bad!

I LOVE my chooks, I love watching them and the sounds they make, I love their eggs - u will NEVER eat supermarket eggs again!!
My DD used to put the chicks in her top pocket in the day and they would even come to their individual names! Needless to say we never had chicken pot pie!!
    Enjoy

Wow - in her pocket? We are still a little scared of them (hurting them, etc) but the kids are getting braver. We're trying to handle them often so they are used to us as adults. The chicks are so much easier to play with than the keets!
